BIRTH: No proof is found that Richard is the son of Rev. Leonard, but like Leonard he was rector of Tatterford. Virtually all the Metcalfs in Tatterford during this period are descendants of Leonard. The age of Richard is calculated from age 24 at ordination, 25 Jan 1606/7 (John Venn and J. A. Venn, ALUMNI CANTABRIGIENSES, pt. 1, 4 vols. [Cambridge, 1922-27], 3:179 [FHL #942.59/C1 J2c]). The age also fits well with Leonard's family.
MAR: No mar rec found. Children of Richard Metcalf and wife Mary were baptized in Tatterford, 1613, 1614.

BIRTH: No birth/chr rec found. Rev. Leonard Metcalf deposed in 1614 that he was 73 years old and born in Apperside in the North Riding of Yorks. Apperside is a hamlet in the parish of Wensley. The deposition is in the Consistorial Deposition Books, Diocesan Registry at Norwich (cited in Charles Edward Banks, "Genealogical Research in England - Metcalf, NEHGR, 80[1926]:313 [FHL #974 B2ne]).

Amy Metcalf, probably the wife of Leonard Metcalf, was buried in Tatterford, 22 Dec 1602 (Frederick Johnson, ed, "A CompleteTranscript of the 1st Volume of the Parish of Tatterford" [transcript, 1893], 7 [FHL #894714 item 6]). Leonard was the minister of Tatterford and had come from Yorkshire. Virtually all Metcalfs in Tatterford were related to Leonard at this time.
