MAR: No mar rec found. Children of Jonathan Prescott and his wife Elizabeth were born in Hampton, 1696-1709 (Ibid, 1:28, 32, 39, 65, 68, 71).She was apparently the Elizabeth Pulsipher who married Isaac Clifford at Newbury, Mass., 13 Aug 1693 (VITAL RECORDS OF NEWBURY, 2 vols. Elizabeth, dau of Isaac and Elizabeth (Pulsipher) Clifford, married Peter Garland. On 18 Jul 1737, Peter and Elizabeth Garland sold 4 acres in Hampton that was formerly Isaac Clifford's to "our brother" Jonathan Prescott of Kensington, they being heirs of the late Isaac Clifford (New Hampshire Province Deeds, 28:8 [FHL #015420]). Jonathan was the son of Jonathan and Elizabeth Clifford, born at Hampton, 16 Jul 1696 (Sanborn, VITAL RECORDS OF HAMPTON, 1:65). The will of Elizabeth, widow of Jonathan Prescott of Hampton Falls, 24 Jan 1755, proved 30 May 1755, mentions her dau Elizabeth Garland and son Jonathan Prescott, among others (PROBATE RECORDS OF THE PROVINCE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE, 9 vols., repr of New Hampshire State Papers Series, vols. 31-39 [Bowie, MD, 1989-90], 5:211-12 [FHL #974.2 P2p]).
DEATH: No death rec found. For death info, see William Precott, THE PRESCOTT MEMORIAL (Boston, 1870), 231 (FHL #982013 item 3). Although no confirmation was found in original sources, the date is probably accurate, as Jonathan executed a deed in the form of a will on 11 Dec 1754, apparently shortly before his death (New Hampshire Province Deeds, 46:330 [FHL #015431]). William Prescott states that Jonathan died in Kensington, but the deed shows he was living in Hampton Falls. He was certainly dead by 24 Jan 1755, when his widow made her own will, above.

MAR: No mar rec found. Priscilla, wife of Moses Sanborn of Kingston, sold the dower lands from her late husband, Edmund James of Kensington, to her dau Mary James, 2 Jan 1754 (New Hampshire Province Deeds, 52:537 [FHL #015434]). Priscilla is identified as a dau of John Sherburne of Portsmouth in a deed from the heirs of John Sherburne to Nathaniel Sherburne, 19 Mar 1739/40 (Ibid, 24:422 [FHL #015420]). Hence, Edmund James married Priscilla Sherburne, who married 2nd Moses Sanborn.
DEATH: Date of death is from gravestone inscription, below. Edmund's will shows that he was living in Hampton Falls shortly before his death. See the will of Edmund James of Hampton Falls, 10 Dec 1735, proved 20 Feb 1735/6 (PROBATE RECORDS OF THE PROVINCE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE, 9 vols., repr of New Hampshire State Papers Series, vols. 31-39 [Bowie, MD, 1989-90], 2:555-56 [FHL #974.2 P2p]). Edmund apparently lived in that part of Hampton Falls which was set off as Kensington in 1737, shortly after Edmund's death.

(Boston, 1992-98), 1:43 (FHL #974.26/H3 V2s).The original ms is damaged and birth year is not completely legible. Birth year is fixed at 1709 in V. C. Sanborn, GENEALOGY OF THE FAMILY SAMBORNE OR SANBORN (Privately printed, 1899), 100 (FHL #599237 item 2). Perhaps the document was legible in 1899. However, Nathan was listed as age 77 on 1783 death rec, below, suggesting he may have been born ca. 1706. Nevertheless, V. C. Sanborn's date is followed here, as ages at death are often incorrect, and there is a strong probability that Sanborn saw the rec before the damage to the text was great.
MAR: No mar rec found. A wife Catherine is identified in his will, below. She is called Catherine Sattalee in Sanborn, GENEALOGY OF THE FAMILY OF SAMBORNE OR SANBORN, 100 (FHL #599237 item 2). No evidence has been found to support this assertion. Sanborn fixes the year of mar at 1733.
