BIRTH: It is often stated that Mary is the dau of John Thompson and Alice Freeman, chr at Preston Capes, Nhants, 14 Dec 1619, the widow Alice having come to Roxbury with her children. See Mary Lovering Holman, ANCESTRY OF COL. JOHN HARRINGTON STEVENS, 2 vols. However, Joseph Wise, testified in the case of Edmund Thompson, late of Salem, now of Co. Suffolk, Eng, 11 Jan 1648 (ASPINWALL NOTARIAL RECORDS, 1644-1651, 32nd Report Boston Record Commissioners, [Boston, 1903], 186-87 [FHL #974.461 H2b]).
