Although this rec suggests that Joseph's children were born in Sandwich, it is unlikely, as Joseph was in Duxbury from at least 1633 to 1646 (Shurtleff, RECORDS OF THE COLONY OF NEW PLYMOUTH, 1:31, 39, 141; 12:136).

MAR: No mar rec found. On 4 July 1679, Jonathan Higgins of Eastham was charged with "fornication with his wifes sister after his wifes death" (Shurtleff, RECORDS OF NEW PLYMOUTH, 6:20). The only sister not married on that date was Hannah. Following this incident are the births of five children of Jonathan Higgins, the 1st born on 11 Feb 1680. MAR: No mar rec found. A wife Phebe is identified in Nathaniel's will, below. It has frequently appeared in print that she was Phebe Murdock, but no proof has been found. After Nathaniel's death in 1707, Phebe married Thomas Gray of Little Compton, Bristol Co., Mass. (now Rhode Island). No mar rec has been found, but prenuptial agreement, 12 Jan 1708/9, is found in Plymouth Co. Deeds, 7:258 (FHL #558813). James Peckham of Newport died on 26 Feb 1711/2. The legal heirs of his estate gave power of attorney to William Peckham, Philip Peckham, and John Taylor to sell his real estate, 25 Dec 1712 (Bristol Co., Mass. Deeds, 8:68 [FHL #465800]). Among the "legal representatives" giving power of attorney were Thomas Gray and Phebe Gray. The will of Phebe Gray, aged 80 yrs, "late of Little Compton, now of Middletown," 16 May 1746, proved 15 Dec 1746, gave all her estate to her "cousin" John Taylor of Middletown (Middletown, RI Town Council & Probate, 1:58 [FHL #946438]). Hence, it appears that Phebe is the sister of James Peckham, son of John Peckham of Newport, RI. For additional information, see Stephen Farnum Peckham, "John Peckham of Newport, R.I.," NEHGR, 57(1903):31-32 (FHL #974 B2ne), and Barbara Lambert Merrick, "Phebe Peckham, wife of Nathaniel Warren of Plymouth, Massachusetts, and of Thomas Gray of Little Compton, Rhode Island," TAG, 71(1996):151-54 (FHL #973 D25aga).

3485 BIRTH: Newbury, NH Vital Records, 1:100 (FHL #015268).
MAR: No mar rec found. Death rec of their dau Caroline Badger identifies parents as David Rogers and Elizabeth Raymond (Vermont Vital Records, 2nd series, 1871-1908 [FHL #540054]). The identity of this Elizabeth Raymondis deduced as follows: Elizabeth Raymond, pensioner, age 82, widow of Samuel Raymond, was living with the David Rogers family in the 1840 U.S.census of Hartland, 439 (FHL #027442). See the Revolutionary War pension file of Samuel Raymond which identifies his wife Elizabeth Bumpus and includes a copy of their Middleborough, Massachusetts mar rec (Revolutionary War Pensions, #W24718, National Archives, [FHL #972008]). Their mar is also recorded in Newbury, New Hampshire. Hence, it is clear that David Rogers' wife Elizabeth, whose birth is also recorded in Newbury, is a dau of Samuel Raymond and Elizabeth Bumpus.
DEATH: No death rec found. Elizabeth was living on 2 Feb 1854 when she signed deed as an heir of David Rogers (Hartland, Vermont Deeds, 16:254, Hartland Town Clerk).
