BIRTH: No birth rec found. John Greet is mentioned as an heir to the estate of Edmund Hart in 1673 (Hampshire Co. Probate, 1:148 [FHL #879184]). John's wife is apparently the dau of Edmund Hart. Eight sisters of Elisha Hart of Windsor, a proved son of Edmund Hart, are mentioned (but not named) in his estate distribution, 6 Dec 1683, Hartford Probate District, abstracted in Charles W. Manwaring, ed, THE DIGEST OF THE EARLY CONNECTICUT PROBATE RECORD, 3 vols. (Hartford,1904-1906), 1:320 (FHL #974.6 P2m). John Greet had two children recorded in Westfield: Mary, born ca. 1668; and John, born 6 Jan 1670 ("A Record of Marriages, Births and Death in Westfield, Mass., Prior to the Year1700," NEHGR, 6 [1852]:266 [FHL #974 B2ne]). The dau Mary apparently married Zachariah Seymour at Wethersfield, Conn., 9 Feb 1687/8, as "dau of widow Mary Gritt" ("Wethersfield Births, Marriages, Deaths, 1634-1868," Barbour Collection [typescript, 1927; Conn. State Library, Hartford], 142 [FHL #002982]). Additional circumstantial evidence is found in Gale Ion Harris, "John and Mary (Hart) Greet of Westfield," TAG, 72(1997):42-48 (FHL #973 D25aga). Date and place of Mary's birth are approximations. Edmund Hart, Mary's father, came to Westfield from Weymouth in 1664.

Date of birth is calculated from age 58 on deed, dated 28 Feb 1705/6 (Hampshire Co. Deeds [Springfield Reg], B:126 [FHL #844486]). Place of birth is suggested by residence of his father in Wethersfield in 1647. Lands were laid out to Luke Hitchcock on 1 Mar 1647 (Wethersfield Deeds, 1:71 [FHL #005991]). Luke apparently left New Haven before 5 Jun 1646, when he appeared on a jury in Connecticut Colony (J.H. Trumbull and Charles J. Hoadly, eds, THE PUBLIC RECORDS OF THE COLONY OF CONNECTICUT, 15 vols. MAR: No mar rec found. A wife Sarah is mentioned in his will, below. The same will calls John Jaquith "brother-in-law." Since James Snow had no sisters, the most likely explanation is that Sarah, wife of James Snow, is the sister of John Jaquith. Date and place of birth are approximations. It is frequently stated that John was born about 1655/6, but no evidence has been found. It seems likely that if John's birth occurred in 1655 it would have been recorded in the colony records with those of his older and younger siblings born at Barnstable. A more likely interpretation is that he was born in Scituate in the gap between siblings Mary (1644) and Thomas (1650).
MAR: No mar rec found. The wife of John Fuller is identified as Mehitable Rowley in the will of her father, Moses Rowley of Haddam, Connecticut, 16 Aug 1704, proved 8 Mar 1705/6, Hartford District Probate, abstracted in Charles W. Technically, East Haddam was not established as a separate town until the division of Haddam in 1734. However, John's will states that he was "of Haddam on the East Side of the River." Apparently, a distiction was made by 1726.

Date of birth is calculated from age 55 on deposition, 16 Jun 1665, Suffolk Co. Court Files, #715 (FHL #911118). BIRTH: No birth rec found. John Scone is mentioned as an heir to the estate of Edmund Hart in 1673 (Hampshire Co. Probate, 1:148 [FHL #879184]). John had a wife Sarah, presumably the dau of Edmund Hart. Eight sisters of Elisha Hart of Windsor, a proved son of Edmund Hart, are mentioned (but not named) in his estate distribution, 6 Dec 1683, Hartford District Probate, abstracted in Charles W. Manwaring, ed, DIGESTOF THE EARLY CONNECTICUT PROBATE RECORDS, 3 vols. (Hartford, 1904-1906), 1:320 (FHL #974.6 P2m). BIRTH: No birth rec found. John stated he was about 52 years old in deposition, 11 Nov 1670 (Essex Co. Deeds, 3:99 [FHL #866015]).
MAR #1: No mar rec found. However, it is clear from the estate records of Ralph Tomkins of Salem, 1666, that John Foster was married to one of Tomkins' daughters (THE PROBATE RECORDS OF ESSEX COUNTY, 3 vols. [Salem, MA, 1916-20], 2:76-76 [FHL #974.45 P2p]). Ralph Tomkins emigrated to New England on the ship "Truelove" in 1635 with his wife Katherine and children Elizabeth, Marie, and Samuel (Peter Wilson Coldham, ed, THE COMPLETE BOOK OF EMIGRANTS, 1607-1660, [Baltimore, 1987], 166-67 [FHL #973 W2col]). Of these two daughters, it is suspected that Mary became the wife of John Foster, as he named his first daughter Mary. Mary was also closer in age to John Foster, Elizabeth being about five years older than John.
MAR #2: No mar rec found. Children were born to John Foster and wife Martha in Salem, 1658-77. Martha is clearly not the dau of Ralph Tomkins (see above), as she was too young to have been the mother of John Foster's older children. Martha deposed in 1670 that she was about 34 years old (Essex Co. Deeds, 3:100 [FHL #866015]). John Foster and Martha were apparently married during the six-year gap between the birth of Samuel in 1652 and Benjamin in 1658.
DEATH: No death rec found. See the will of John Foster of Salem, 16 Nov 1687, proved 14 Mar 1687/8, inv 19 Jan 1687/8, Suffolk Co. Probate, #1625, (o.s.) 10:266-68, 286-87 (FHL #584130).
