BIRTH: Thomas is identified in the will of his father, Henry Kingnothe of Pluckley, 22 Apr 1546, proved 8 July 1546, Archdeaconry Court of Canterbury, reg wills, 24:225 (FHL #188931). He is not mentioned in the will of Henry's wife, Agnes, suggesting that he is the son of a previous wife of Henry Kingsnothe. Date and place of birth are approximations.
MAR: The will of Thomas Kingsnothe, below, identifies a wife Julyan. Julyan's will confirms that she is the mother of Thomas's children.

Thomas is listed as the 4th son in the 1663 Visitation of Kent, published in Joseph Jackson Howard and Robert Hovenden, eds, SOME PEDIGREES FROM THE VISITATION OF KENT, 1663-1668 (London, 1887), 2-3 (FHL #942.23 D2ho). BIRTH: Thomas is identified in the will of his father, John Eaton of Rowington, 4 Jan 1547/8, proved 22 Nov 1548, Court of the Dean & Chapter of Worcester, reg wills, V:243 (FHL #097877). Date and place of birth are approximations.
MAR: No mar rec found. A wife Isabel and her sisters Margery, Annis, and Mary are mentioned in Thomas's will, below. Thomas Atwood was one of the overseers. The will of Thomas Atwood of Rowington, 26 Oct 1584, proved 8 Sep 1585, mentions a wife Margaret and "sisters" Isabel Nason, Anne Baker, and Margery Shipton (Consistory Court of Worcester, orig wills, 1585, #26 [FHL #097931]). The will of Richard Baker of Rowington, 28 Jun 1551, proved 13 Aug 1558, identifies daughters Margery, Agnes, Isabel, and Margaret (Ibid, orig wills, #819 and #854k [FHL #097895]). Hence, it is clear that Thomas Eaton married Isabel Baker, who later married a Nason. Thomas Atwood apparently married Isabel's sister Margaret.

Nathaniel Field, a great-grandson of Thomas Field (1502) wrote that three generations of his grandfather's progenitors held the same house in Hemel Hempstead (Field, SOME SHORT MEMORIALS CONCERNING THE LIFE OF THAT REVEREND DIVINE DOCTOR RICHARD FIELD [London, 1716/7], 2, [FHL #000575]). BIRTH: Thomas was aged 60 on death rec, below. It is suspected, however, that the age was exaggerated, as Thomas would have been over 40 yrs old when he married and would have been a servant of William Pelham at age 37 (Nathaniel B. Shurtleff, ed, RECORDS OF THE GOVERNOR AND COMPANY OF THE MASSACHUSETTS BAY, 5 vols. [Boston, 1853-54], 1:86 [FHL #974.4 N2s]). Thomas was probably closer to age 50 when he died.
MAR: No mar rec found. Children of Thomas Bartlett and wife Hannah were born in Watertown, 1636/7-1651.
DEATH: WATERTOWN RECORDS, 8 vols. (Watertown, MA, 1894-1939), 1:3:17 (FHL #974.44/W5 V28w). "Age bought 60 yeares." Also see the will of Thomas Bartlett of Watertown, 22 Apr 1653, proved 20 June 1654, Middlesex Co. Probate Files, 1st series, #1361 (FHL #386015).

BIRTH: Thomas's place as a son of Peter Blossom of Gt. Shelford and Stapleford is not proved but seems highly probable. Thomas married at Cambridge in 1605, but his baptism is not found in any of the Cambridge parishes. It is known that Peter Blossom's widow Annabel married Richard Bracher at nearby Stapleford and removed to Cambridge where Richard Bracher died. Annabel was granted administration of the estate of Richard Bracher of Cambridge on 4 Oct 1617. The will of Peter Blossom of Stapleford, 12 June 1597, proved 16 Jul 1597 mentions minor children but does not name them, suggesting he had children younger than those found in the par reg of Great Shelford (Consistory Court of Ely, reg wills, V:367 [FHL #173476]). It is also noteworthy that Thomas named one of his own sons Peter, which was unusual for a devout Puritan unless the child was named for a close family member. Puritans generally avoided the name Peter, as it smacked of the papacy. For additional discussion, see John I. Coddington and Maclean W. McLean, "The Blossom Family of Cambridgeshire, England, and New England," part 1, TAG, 63(1988):65-77 (FHL #974 D25aga).
MAR: St. Clement's, Cambridge par reg (FHL #1040438).
DEATH: William T. Davis, BRADFORD'S HISTORY OF PLYMOUTH PLANTATION (NewYork, 1908), 302 (FHL #974.4 H2bw). Thomas Blossom's death is also refered to in a letter from Rev. Ralph Smith of Plymouth, New England to Rev. Hugh Goodyear of Leyden, Holland, 1 Jul 1633, published in D. Plooij, THE PILGRIM FATHERS FROM A DUTCH POINT OF VIEW (New York, 1932), 100-102 (FHL #974 D3p). The original letter is in the Goodyear Papers, New York University Library.

BIRTH: Thomas's three children are mentioned in the will of his brother, John Thurgood of Stansted Mountfitchet, 27 May 1584, proved 22 Jun 1584, Commissary Court of the Bishop of London (Essex & Herts Div), orig wills, box 37 (FHL #094399). John is a proved son of John Thurgood. Date and place of birth are approximations.
MAR: No mar rec found, but Thomas was married. See discussion, above.
DEATH: No death/bur rec found. John is not mentioned in the will of his father, John Thurgood of Manuden, 26 Nov 1577, proved 27 Feb 1577/8, P.C.C., 7 Langley (FHL #091957). | Thurgood, Thomas (I8495)

BIRTH: Thomas's will, below, shows that he is the brother of Anne, wife of William Crispe of Laxfield, and Roger Godbold of Dennington. The key to the father of these three is the tenement "Jaffreys," which was bequeathed by William Godbold of Dennington to his son Thomas in 1504 in exchange for his son's support for life (will of William Godbold, 4 Apr 1504, proved 14 Dec 1507, Archdeaconry Court of Suffolk, reg wills, 6:10 [FHL #096909]). In 1552 Jaffreys was willed by Roger Godbold's son, William Godbold of Dennington, to his own son Roger (will of William Godbold of Dennington, 27 Aug 1552, proved 9 Feb 1552/3, Archdeaconry Court of Suffolk, reg wills, 16:418 [FHL #096916]). It is not clear how Jaffreys descended to William, son of Roger, but it must have been through Thomas Godbold, who received it in 1504. It is believed, therefore, that Thomas is the father of the three siblings, Anne, Thomas, and Roger Godbold. Date and place of Thomas's birth is an approximation.
MAR: No mar rec found, but Thomas's sister, Anne Crispe, bequeathed to John Godbold, son of her brother Thomas, in her will.
