BIRTH: VITAL RECORDS OF SALISBURY (Topsfield, MA, 1915), 59 (FHL #974.45/S3 V2t).
MAR #1: No mar rec found. Division of land between Elis (Alice) Daggett and Edward Cottle, 4 Apr 1698, shows that Edward had a wife Esther (Dukes Co. Deeds, 1:24 [FHL #911711]). On 12 Sep 1720 Esther Cottle, singlewoman, dau of Edward Cottle, sold her interest in the land of her grandfather, Joseph Daggett, late of Edgartown, to Thomas Martin (Ibid, 7:225 [FHL #911713]). Hence, Edward Cottle's wife was Esther, dau of Joseph Daggett.
MAR #2: No mar rec found. On 10 Nov 1719 Edward Cottle and wife Abigail, with other heirs of Joseph Allen, sold their interest in their father's estate at Dartmouth, Mass. to Benjamin Wilbur (Bristol Co. Deeds, 13:42 [FHL #465802]). Edward and Abigail Cottle had a dau Abigail born at Tisbury, 6 Jun 1702 (VITAL RECORDS OF TISBURY [Boston, 1910], 29 [FHL #974.494/T1 V28v]).
DEATH: No death rec found. See the will of Edward Cottle of Edgartown, 2 Nov 1748, proved 22 Nov 1751, Dukes Co. Probate, 3:274-75 (FHL #911747).

Hence, Mary Cottle appears to have married Samuel Bickford.

MAR: No mar rec found. Children were born to Samuel Colby and wife Dorothy at Amesbury, 1694-1713 (Ibid, 56-57). Dorothy is apparently the dau of Henry Ambrose. Dorothy and Hezekiah, two of the children of Samuel and Dorothy Colby, were baptized at Salisbury, 1 Nov 1719, as grandchildren of Henry Ambrose (VITAL RECORDS OF SALISBURY [Topsfield,MA, 1915], 55 [FHL #845110]). BIRTH: VITAL RECORDS OF SUDBURY (Boston, 1903), 131 (FHL #974.44/S1 V2n). Henry Bond contends that this Abigail Chadwick married Ebenezer Boynton, 7 Jun 1728, and that is was Abigail, dau of Charles Chadwick, who married Henry Spring (Henry Bond, GENEALOGIES OF THE EARLY SETTLERS OF WATERTOWN, 2nd edition [Boston, 1860], 151 [FHL #974.44 D2b]). However, the estate files of Ebenezer Chadwick prove that it was his widow Abigail, not his dau, who married Boynton (Middlesex Co. Probate Files, 1st series, #4100 [FHL #386081]). Furthermore, Weston church membership lists show that Abigail Chadwick was admitted to the church on 13 Feb 1731/2, when she is called an unmarried dau of Ebenezer Chadwick, deceased. In 1744 another list was compiled of "the Members of the Church in Weston which are now living, & not dismiss'd or remov'd to other Churches, according to the Order in which they stand in the other Book." In 1744 the Abigail Chadwick admitted in 1732 is called "Abigail Chadwick now Spring." Abigail, dau of Charles Chadwick, was admitted to the Weston church in 1728. In 1744 she is listed as "remov'd" with no indication that she was married (Record Book of the First Parish of Weston, 1709-1743 [FHL #892235]). Hence, it is clear that it was Ebenezer Chadwick's dau Abigail who married Henry Spring.

DEATH: No death rec found. Weston town recs refer to Abigail as a widow on 6 Mar 1780. No further mention (TOWN OF WESTON, RECORDS OF THE FIRST PRECINCT, 1746-1754 AND OF THE TOWN, 1754-1803 [Boston, 1893], 113, 279 [FHL #974.44/W9 N2t].

MAR #1: No mar rec found. Mary Bellows and Isaac Woods were charged with fornication on 29 Sep 1682 (Middlesex Co. Court Files, 1682, fo. 99, #3 [FHL #901003]). Isaac Woods and wife Mary had four children born at Marlborough, 1683-89 (VITAL RECORDS OF MARLBOROUGH [Worcester, MA, 1908], 206-207 [FHL #974.44/M5 V2s]). It is very likely that Isaac Wood and Mary Bellows were married following the charge of fornication. Most fornication charges were brought up when the woman was discovered to be with child.
