MAR: No mar rec found. Samuel's wife is called Elizabeth in a court rec, 2 Mar 1646/7 (Nathaniel B. Shurtleff and David Pulsifer, eds, RECORDS OF THE COLONY OF NEW PLYMOUTH, 12 vols. [Boston, 1855-61], 2:112 [FHL #974.4 N2n]). There are two theories of Elizabeth's identity. She may be a dau of Thomas Rogers of Plymouth based on Samuel Eddy's qualification to receive a grant of land as one of the firstborn children of the Plymouth Colony, 3 Jun 1662 (Ibid, 4[1855]:18-19). As Samuel did not himself qualify as a "firstborn" of the colony, Eugene A. Stratton agrues that it must have been through his wife's right. He believes that only Elizabeth, dau of Thomas Rogers, was of age and availability in the colony to have been Samuel's wife (Stratton, PLYMOUTH COLONY: ITS HISTORY AND PEOPLE, [Salt Lake City, UT, 1986], 286-88 [FHL #974.4 H2s]). It is also conjectured that Elizabeth is a sister of Thomas Savery of Plymouth based on the statement of Ann, widow of Thomas Savery, calling Samuel Eddy "our brother" in a deed to her sons Anthony and Aaron Savery, 22 Mar 1677 (Plymouth Colony Deeds, 4:311 [FHL #567789]). For further discussion on this theory, see Ruth Story Devereaux Eddy, THE EDDY FAMILY IN AMERICA (Boston, 1930), 22 (FHL #896573).

This will mentions my Aunt Wines and cousin Anne Wyes (Wines). Apparently one of Abigail (Eddy) Benjamin's sisters married Barnabas Wines of Watertown, later of Southold, Long Island. The only sisters not accounted for are Anna and Elizabeth. Unfortunately, the name of Barnabas Wines' wife is unknown, but it is conjectured that it was Anna, as he named his eldest dau Anna and had no dau Elizabeth.
