Description: It's not clear why Peter Christian Geertsen (Jr.) and George Peter Geertsen are listed as husbands of Selma Felt. PCG Jr. and George Peter Geertsen were her uncles- siblings of her mother, Mary Elizabeth Geertsen. Selma's only husband was Thorton Armstrong Jones.

Description: The idea that Olga was adopted by Peter and Mariane Geertsen is an old one, but it's not supported by the facts. First of all, she was born 7 or 9 Feb 1883 in Copenhagen, Denmark, not Avon, UT. Her parents were Carl Christian Alfred Busch and Sophia Louise Ulstrom. The reason she is connected to the Geertsens is that her baptism and confirmation are recorded in the Geertsen family Bible. This led to the idea that she had been adopted. In fact it seems that she stayed with the Geertsens for a short time until her mother came over from Denmark in about 1895 (her father died in Denmark in 1887). She never took the name Geertsen. She was Olga Busch, living in Logan, in the 1900 Census. She married Edward Gibbons in 1904.

At the residence of James McGaw, Ogden city, May 25th, Elias Bassett, in the 69th year of his age. Deceased was the father of C.H. Bassett, Salt Lake City, and Mrs. Mary M. McGaw, Ogden city. He was born in Rensalaer county, near Albany, N.Y.; was baptized in to the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Alleghany county, N.Y., in 1843; the following year emigrated to Nauvoo, Ill,; was driven thence by mob violence in 1846; moved to Winter Quarters in 1847, recrossed the Missouri river into Iowa in 1848; and gathered here in 1852.
Bro. Bassett was among the very few of whom it may be said, ?He never had an enemy.? He was a kind husband, a tender father and devout Christian. In life he was beloved by all who knew him, and his death is mourned by many sorrowing friends. ? COM

Email from JeNene Hansen, daughter, 6 Nov 2009
I think mom was born in Grace, Idaho but I am not sure. She was born March 1 and darned if I know the date. Her real name was Alta Mather, daughter of Lillie and Elias Mather. She may even have been born in Smithfield, Utah. I have some stuff here I will have to dig out and see what I can ascertain. I was born June 17, 1949 in Soda Springs, Idaho. I think Fred was born in Soda Springs also August 17, 1953. I have absolutely no idea when mom died or where she is buried. Probably somewhere in California - that is the last anyone knew of her was there and I don't even know where. Pete called and we talked for a while. He is a very nice man. Fred's full name is Fredrick Dallas Hansen. I have no middle name, JeNene Hansen is it. I will scan what we wrote for Fred to you.
