MAR: No mar rec found. A wife Sarah is mentioned in the will of Nathaniel Sanborn of Hampton [Falls?], 25 Oct 1721, proved 4 Jun 1723 (PROBATE RECORDS OF THE PROVINCE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE, 9 vols., repr of New Hampshire State Papers Series, vols. 31-39 [Bowie, MD, 1989-90], 2:138-40 [FHL #974.2 P2p]). She is called Sarah Nason in V. C. Sanborn, GENEALOGY OF THE FAMILIES OF SAMBORNE OR SANBORN (Privately printed, 1899), 85 (FHL #599237 item 2). This is probably based on Nathaniel calling Jonathan Nason "kinsman" in his will. However, Jonathan Nason was married to Huldah Sanborn, a niece of Nathaniel Sanborn. The correct identification is found in a deed from Sarah Sanborn, wife of Nathaniel of Hampton, and her sister Abigail Waters, single woman, to their brother Daniel Waters of Topsfield, Mass., in which they quitclaimed their interest in the estate of their late father, James Waters of Topsfield, deceased, 14 Oct 1709 (Essex Co. MAR: No mar rec found. Christian's mar to Richard Clapp is based on circumstantial evidence. Moger, "Transcript of Devonshire Wills," 44 vols. (typescript, n.d.), 12:1214 (FHL #916870). Peter, who is probably, a half-brother to Nicholas, is a son of Richard Clapp of Sidbury, as shown by his mar rec at Sidmouth. Hence, Christian is the widow of Richard Clapp.

The will of Samuel Barber of Richmond, 27 May 1760, proved 7 Jul 1766, mentions a dau Mary Moore (Richmond Probate, 1:428 [FHL #930847]). This Mary Moore was apparently the wife of David Moore and widow of Thomas James. Samuel Barber was a surety for David Moore's adm of the Thomas James estate, 6 Feb 1748/9, and on the same date Benjamin Barber, a son of Samuel, was appointed guardian of Jonathan, son of Thomas James (Richmond Probate, 1:16 [FHL #930847]). (Plymouth Colony Deeds, 2:1:73-65 [FHL #567789]). She was apparently the Jane Clark who married William Collier at St. Olave, Southwark, Surrey, 16 May 1611 (W. H. Challen, ed, "Transcription of the Marriages of St. Olave, Southwark, 1583-1755" [typescript, 1927], 51 [FHL #416709]). Although the mar rec does not call her widow, Jane must have been previously married to a Clark, as none of her Collier daughters were old enough to have been the wife of William Walker.
