Edmund is identified as younger than his brother John in the nuncupative will of his father, Luke Heard of Ipswich, n.d., proved 28 Jul 1647 (THE PROBATE RECORDS OF ESSEX COUNTY, 3 vols. [Salem, MA, 1916-20], 1:81 [FHL #974.45 P2p]). Therefore, Edmund must have been born in 1646/7, almost certainly at Ipswich, where his father resided in 1647 when he made his will.
