- BIRTH: Springfield Vital Records, 1:24 (FHL #016502). Born "at Chester." She is called "Nabby" on birth record, a pet name for Abigail.
MAR: No mar rec found. She is called the widow of James Elkins in deposition dated 15 Jul 1840 in Revolutionary War pension file of Reuben Sanborn, National Archives, #W16702 (FHL #972115). She was married in 1800 and removed to Norwich, Vermont, according to V. C. Sanborn, GENEALOGY OF THE FAMILY OF SAMBORNE OR SANBORN (Privately printed, 1899), 179 (FHL #599237 item 2).
DEATH: No death rec found. She was reported living on 15 Jul 1840, as mentioned above. Abigail probably died at Norwich, Vermont, where V. C. Sanborn reported she removed with her husband. James Elkins "killed himself by hanging" at Norwich on 15 Oct 1825 (Vermont Vital Records, 1st series, -1870 [FHL #027540]). Abigail Elkins is listed in the 1840 U.S. census of Norwich, p. 319. She is not enumerated there in the 1850 census.
