- BIRTH: Thomas's will, below, shows that he is the brother of Anne, wife of William Crispe of Laxfield, and Roger Godbold of Dennington. The key to the father of these three is the tenement "Jaffreys," which was bequeathed by William Godbold of Dennington to his son Thomas in 1504 in exchange for his son's support for life (will of William Godbold, 4 Apr 1504, proved 14 Dec 1507, Archdeaconry Court of Suffolk, reg wills, 6:10 [FHL #096909]). In 1552 Jaffreys was willed by Roger Godbold's son, William Godbold of Dennington, to his own son Roger (will of William Godbold of Dennington, 27 Aug 1552, proved 9 Feb 1552/3, Archdeaconry Court of Suffolk, reg wills, 16:418 [FHL #096916]). It is not clear how Jaffreys descended to William, son of Roger, but it must have been through Thomas Godbold, who received it in 1504. It is believed, therefore, that Thomas is the father of the three siblings, Anne, Thomas, and Roger Godbold. Date and place of Thomas's birth is an approximation.
MAR: No mar rec found, but Thomas's sister, Anne Crispe, bequeathed to John Godbold, son of her brother Thomas, in her will.
