- BIRTH: No birth/chr rec found. Wherwell par regs are lost for the period. No evidence has been found to prove that Deborah is a dau of Stephen Bachiler, but it has been frequently published since 1860 if not earlier. See James Savage, GENEALOGICAL DICTIONARY OF THE FIRST SETTLERS OF NEW ENGLAND, 4 vols. (Boston, 1860-62; repr Baltimore, 1965), 4:594 (FHL #974 D2s). Although unproved, the relationship seems probable. John and Deborah Wing lived in Strood, Kent, where they had two children baptized: Deborah, 12 Oct 1609; John, 1 Sep 1611 (Strood par reg [FHL #992462]). The will of Rev. John Wing, "late of the Hague in Holland, clerk, now living in St. Mary Aldermary, London," 2 Nov 1629, proved 4 Aug 1630, mentions his wife Deborah and refers to land in Strood, Kent (P.C.C., Scroope, 73 [FHL #092122]). The widow Ann Sanborn, dau of Stephen Bachiler, married Henry Atkinson in Strood, 20 Jan 1631/2. Like Stephen Bachiler, John Wing was a Puritan. Deborah and her children came to New England and settled in Sandwich. Among the children was a son Stephen. Also like Stephen Bachiler, John and Deborah Wing had connections in Holland. John Wing was a minister at The Hague, Flushing, and Middleburgh. On 22 Jun 1624, Deborah Wing, aged 32 yrs, wife of Mr. John Wing, resident of Flushing, and her two children, applied for a "License to Pass Beyond the Sea," apparently to return to Holland (P.R.O., Q.R. Miscell, 560-2, cited in Henry F. Waters, "Genealogical Gleanings in England," NEHGR, 45[1891]:237 [FHL #974 B2ne]). Stephen Bachiler and dau Anne Sanborn applied for a license to pass beyond the sea to visit family in Flushing on 25 Jun 1631 (Q.R. Miscell, 560-22, Waters, "Genealogical Gleanings in England," NEHGR, 45:237).
MAR: No mar rec found. See discussion above.
