William is identified as a son of Richard Swaine of Hampton in a deed from Richard to his grandson Hezekiah Swaine, son of William, deceased, 22 Apr 1658 (Old Norfolk Co. Deeds, 1:143 [FHL #873020]). William's birth year is calculated from age 16 on passenger list of the ship "Rebecca," from London to New England, Apr 1635 (Peter Wilson Coldham, THE COMPLETE BOOK OF EMIGRANTS, 1607-1660 [Baltimore, 1987], 135 [FHL #973 W2col]).
MAR: No mar rec found. Children of William Swaine and his wife Prudence were born at Hampton, 1650-1657/8. After William's death, she married Moses Cox at Hampton, 16 Jun 1658 (George F. Sanborn, Jr, and Melinde Lutz Sanborn, eds, VITAL RECORDS OF HAMPTON, 2 vols. [Boston, 1992-98], 1:74 [FHL #974.26/H3 V2s]). Prudence Cox is identified in the will of her father, William Marston of Hampton, 25 Jan 1672, proved 8 Oct 1672 (PROBATE RECORDS OF THE PROVINCE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE, 9 vols., repr of New Hampshire State Papers Series, vols. 31-39 [Bowie, MD, 1989-90], 1:141 [FHL #974.2 P2p]).
