- BIRTH: No birth/chr rec found. Augustine is identified as a son of Henry and an unknown 1st wife in Sir Henry Chauncey, HISTORICAL ANTIQUITIES OF HERTFORDSHIRE (London, 1700), 62 (FHL #Q942.58 V22c). Chauncey's pedigree was compiled during the life of Justinian Sherburne, a nephew of Augustine. It is presumably through him that Chauncey received his information. Augustine was 16 yrs old when he matriculated at Corpus Christi College, Oxford, 2 Jul 1585 (Joseph Foster, ALUMNI OXONIENSES, 1500-1714, 4 vols. [Oxford, 1891-92], 3:1347 [FHL #942.57/O1 J2ox]).
MAR: Chauncey's pedigree, above, indicates Augustine's wife was one Willoughby of the city of York, given name unknown. Augustine's estate was administered in 1611 by widow Elizabeth, below. It is assumed she is Elizabeth Willoughby, as Chauncey's pedigree mentions no other wives for Augustine.
