- BIRTH: No birth/chr rec found. Catherine is identified in the will of her father, Clement Palmer of Townstall, 20 Dec 1656, proved 20 Apr 1659, P.C.C., 221 Pell (FHL #092256). She is also mentioned in the will of her mother, Sarah Palmer of Townstall, 12 Aug 1665, proved 14 Jun 1667, Archdeaconry Court of Totnes, abstracted in Charles E. Banks ms (FHL #1550098). The recs of this court were destroyed in 1942. Date and place of birth are approximations.
MAR: "Extracts from the Marldon (Devon) Register" (typescript, n.d.), 33 (FHL #974.35/M4 V26m). In this transcript the husband is called "Ezra? Butchers." However, the will of Sarah Palmer, cited above, mentions grandchildren Clement and Jezreel Butchers. The baptisms of these two in Townstall on 8 Jul 1659 and 17 Feb 1661/2, respectively, show that their father is "Jezreel" Butchers (V. C. Langford and R. Ley, comps, "Townstall, Dartmouth Parish Register," 2 vols. [transcript, n.d.; Devon & Cornwall Record Society], 1:5,6 [FHL #917194]). Also see bur rec, below.
