- BIRTH: Matthias is identified as a son of Ebenezer in Charles Edward Banks, HISTORY OF MARTHA'S VINEYARD, 3 vols. (Boston, 1911-25; repr Edgartown, MA, 1966), 3:424 (FHL #974.494 H2b). Also see deed from Ebenezer Rogers of Tisbury to Robert Rogers, 26 Mar 1766, in which Ebenezer refers to his son Matthias (Dukes Co. Deeds, 9:765 [FHL #911714). Date and place of birth are Banks' approximations.
MAR: No mar rec found. See deed from Matthias Rogers of Tisbury and his wife Sarah to Joseph Hillman, et al, 15 Oct 1746, in which Sarah is called a dau of Richard Hillman (Dukes Co. Deeds, 7:484 [FHL #911713). Date of mar is from Banks, HISTORY, 3:424.
NOTE: Banks suggests Matthias may have gone to Vermont, but no evidence was found in census or vital recs.
