- BIRTH: No birth rec found. Morris Fares of Chatham and his wife Orange, the dau of William Rogers, late of Tisbury, deceased, sold their rights to land at Holmes Hole Neck on Martha's Vineyard to Ebenezer Rogers, 3 Jan 1716/7 (Dukes Co. Deeds, 3:167 [FHL #911712]). Ebenezer Rogers sold the land to Thomas Chase, 30 Jan 1716/7. In the deed he refers to the purchase of the land from his four sisters, Orange, Experience, Mary, and Patience (Ibid, 3:186).
MAR #1: No mar rec found. The above deed shows that Orange was the wife of Morris Fares by 1716/7. The mar rec of Morris Farris to Orange Cartwright, below, proves that Orange was 1st married to a Cartwright. Orange was apparently the widow of Nicholas Cartwright who died at Nantucket, 10 Sep 1706 (VITAL RECORDS OF NANTUCKET, 5 vols. [Boston 1925-28], 5:107 [FHL #974.497/N1 V2n]).
MAR #2: VITAL RECORDS OF NANTUCKET, 3:422.
