- BIRTH: No birth rec found. Sarah is identified as a dau of Ebenezer Jones in Charles Edward Banks, THE HISTORY OF MARTHA'S VINEYARD, 3 vols. (Boston, 1911-25; repr Edgartown, MA, 1966), 3:223 (FHL #974.494 H2b). No other Jones family is found on Martha's Vineyard at this time. Furthermore, Sarah deeded land in Chilmark to Thomas Jones as an heir to Thankful Hillman on 30 May 1777 (Dukes Co. Deeds, 11:17 [FHL #911715]). Thankful was an unmarried aunt, sister of the Jane Hillman who married Ebenezer Jones, Sarah's alleged parents. Date of birth is calculated from age 83 on death rec, below.
