- BIRTH: No birth rec found, and no proof has been found that Mehitable is a dau of John Hillman; yet it can hardly be doubted, as John's family were the only Hillmans on Martha's Vineyard, where Mehitable resided. She is identified as a dau of John Hillman in Charles Edward Banks, HISTORY OF MARTHA'S VINEYARD, 3 vols (Boston, 1911-25; repr Edgartown, MA, 1966), 3:195 (FHL #974.494 H2b). Date and place of birth are approximations. John Hillman deposed, 6 Sep 1698, that he leased a farm in Tisbury from about 1685 to 1692 (Suffolk Co. Court Files, #4714 [FHL #910808]).
MAR: VITAL RECORDS OF CHILMARK (Boston, 1904; repr with addenda by Catherine Merwin Mayhew, Bowie, MD, 1991), 55 (FHL #974.494/C1 V2v). Date of mar is not given, but it is estimated about 1710.
