- BIRTH: No birth/chr rec found. Samuel is identified in the will of his father, John Pickworth of Manchester, 27 Jun 1663, proved 25 Nov 1663 (THE PROBATE RECORDS OF ESSEX COUNTY, 3 vols. [Salem, MA, 1916-20], 1:428-29 [FHL #974.45 P2p]). Date and place of birth are approximations.
MAR: VITAL RECORDS OF SALEM, 6 vols. (Salem, MA, 1916-25), 4:197 (FHL #974.45/S1 V2e).
DEATH: Samuel was killed by the Indians during the Narragansett Campaign against King Philip while serving under Capt. Joseph Gardiner. The list of casualties shows that Samuel was killed "abroad from ye garrison [at Wickford, RI]," 16 or 19 Dec 1675 (George Madison Bodge, SOLDIERS IN KING PHILIP'S WAR [Boston, 1906; repr Baltimore, 1991], 164-67 [FHL #974 M2b]).
