- BIRTH: William is identified in the will of his father, Simon Stone of Gt. Bromley, 12 May 1506, proved 10 Feb 1510/11, Stowe Collection, Manuscript Dept, British Museum, London, published verbatim in J. Gardner Bartlett, SIMON STONE GENEALOGY (Boston, 1926), 21-22 (FHL #1018914 item 7). The will was probated in the Commissary Court of London but is not recorded at Chelmsford. Date and place of William's birth are approximations.
MAR: A wife Joan is identified in his own will, below. On 11 Jul 1513 William Stone and his wife Johane complained that John Stephen refused to relinquish the tenement "Masons," which John Stephen, Sr, deceased, had willed to his dau Johane, wife of William Stone (Early Chancery Proceedings, bundle 679, no. 1, cited in Bartlett, SIMON STONE GENEALOGY, 28).
