MAR: Biddenden ATs (FHL #1751589 item 2). Also see mar lic, 22 Oct 1670, abstracted in Joseph Meadows Cowper, ed, CANTERBURY MARRIAGE LICENCES, 6 vols. (Canterbury 1892-1906), 3:17 (FHL #942.23 V25c). Valentine is called a maltster, bachelor of Wye, aged 30 years. The age suggests he is too young to be the groom at this marriage, but his occupation, and residence of Wye suggest he is this man. Moreover, Thomas Austen of Chilham, apparently Valentine's brother, gave bond for the license. Ages were sometimes rounded off in these records.
