- BIRTH: Valentine is identified in the will of his father, Richard Austen of Adisham, 21 May 1588, proved 13 Feb 1592/3, Archdeaconry Court of Canterbury, reg wills, 37:89 (FHL #188850). Three different baptisms of children named Valentine Austen are recorded in Adisham par reg in 1547, 1548 and 1551/2. No parents names are given in any of these entries, and it has not been possible to determine which of these is the son of Richard Austen. Consequently, it is also unclear which marriage and burial records belong to this Valentine Austen.
