MAR #1: Hythe BTs (FHL #1736836 item 6). Also see mar lic, 29 Mar 1693, in Joseph Meadows Cowper, ed, CANTERBURY MARRIAGE LICENCES, 6 vols. (Canterbury 1892-1906), 4:116 (FHL #942.23 V25c) . John was called a husbandman of Ruckinge, and Anne was a widow of Hythe. She was apparently the widow of Matthew Browne, householder, who was buried at Hythe, 25 Jul 1692 (Hythe BTs). A mar lic for Matthew Browne of Hythe and Ann Mantle, of Hythe, spinster, 23 Jun 1681 is found in Cowper, CANTERBURY MARRIAGE LICENCES, 4:85. Children of John Chittenden and his wife Anne were baptized at Ruckinge, 1695-1698.
MAR #2: No mar rec found. However, the baptism of Moses Morris at Ruckinge on 28 Aug 1709 shows that the child was the son of Moses "Maurice" and Mary, "his then wife but now the wife of John Chittenden." Moses Morris and Mary "Cely" were married at Ruckinge, 18 Jan 1704/5. He was buried there on 15 Jan 1708 (Ruckinge BTs [FHL #1737003 item 2]).
