Notes |
- BIRTH: There is no proof that Samuel is a son of Richard and Ursula Fellows. However, there is strong circumstantial evidence. The family of Richard Fellows is the only known family of this surname in western Mass. during the 17th century. Samuel Fellows and Richard Fellows, a proved son of Richard and Ursula, were together fined by the Hampshire Co. Court on 27 Sep 1670. Samuel Fellows was again presented to the court on 28 Mar 1671 along with Joseph Leonard, a son-in-law of Richard and Ursula Fellows, for the "selling of strong liquors to ye Indians & for buying beaver of ye Indians without license." (Hampshire Co. Court recs, 1:123 [FHL #879185]).
DEATH: Samuel was living on 28 Mar 1671 when he was fined by the Hampshire Co. Court, above. He was probably dead by 4 Sep 1688, when his mother made her will, in which he does appear (Hampshire Co. Probate, 2:64 [FHL #879184]).
