- BIRTH: Date and place of birth are approximations. Thomas's dau Sarah was baptized at St. Mary Arches, Exeter. No other Marshfield entries are found in the par reg. He may have come from Somerset, where several of the names appear in the index to Taunton wills. The wills themselves are now lost.
MAR: No mar rec found. The name of Thomas's wife is not mentioned on chr rec of dau Sarah, but she is almost certainly the widow Mercy Marshfield who was buried at Springfield, 30 Sep 1654 (Springfield Vital Records, 1:47 [FHL #185414]). Court recs, 29/30 May 1649, indicate that she was formerly of Windsor, where Thomas Marshfield lived (COLONIAL JUSTICE IN WESTERN MASSACHUSETTS: THE PYNCHON COURT RECORD [Cambridge, 1961], 219-220 [FHL #974.4 P2c]). DEATH: No death rec found. Thomas appears to have been living but had left the Conn. colony by 14 Oct 1642. See J. H. Trumbull and Charles J. Hoadly, eds, THE PUBLIC RECORDS OF THE COLONY OF CONNECTICUT, 15 vols. (Hartford, 1850-90), 1:76 (FHL #974.6 N2c). He was dead by 29 May 1649, when his widow appeared in court at Springfield, above. He perhaps returned to England and died there.
