Wife is called "Abigail Brainard" of Haddam, [Conn.] on mar intentions. Noah and Abigail Merrick of Wilbraham deeded their interest in the lands of her father, Rev. Phineas Fisk of Haddam, to Stephen Johnson of Middletown, Conn., 18 May 1774 (Haddam Deeds, 9:195 [FHL #004467]). Hence, it is clear that Abigail was the widow of a Brainard and the dau of Phineas Fisk. Also see the obituary of Mrs. Abigail Merrick, widow of Rev. Noah Merrick, in the HAMPSHIRE FEDERALIST (Springfield), 17 Sep 1807, which calls Abigail the dau of Rev. Phineas Fiske (abstracted in "Marriages, Deaths, Ordinations from Newspapers in the City Library, Springfield, Massachusetts" [title varies], 21 vols. [typescript, 1940–1964, by Mercy Warren Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution], 1:69 [FHL #861515]).
