- BIRTH: Springfield Vital Records, 1:43 (FHL #185414).
MAR: No mar rec found. Children were born to Joseph and Elizabeth Day at Springfield, 1741-59. The children of Joseph Day quit-claimed the inheritance from their grandfather Eleazer Mattoon at Northfield to Giles Day, 21 May 1777 (Hampshire Co. Deeds [Springfield Reg] 16:676-77 [FHL #845699]). Hence, Joseph Day married Elizabeth Mattoon.
DEATH: VITAL RECORDS OF WEST SPRINGFIELD, 2 vols. (Boston, 1944-45), 2:218 (FHL #974.426/W1 V2n). Joseph was apparently a soldier during the French and Indian War at the time of his death. He made his will shortly before leaving on the campaign. See the will of Joseph Day of Springfield, 23 May 1758, proved 12 Sep 1758, Hampshire Co. Probate, 9:25 (FHL #879187).
BUR: VITAL RECORDS OF WEST SPRINGFIELD, 2:218. Holyoke was a part of West Springfield until set off in 1850.
