- BIRTH: No birth rec found. Mary Day is identified as a dau of Editha, wife of John Maynard of Hartford, in the latter's will, 23 Jan 1657/8 (no probate act), Hartford District Probate, abstracted in Charles W. Manwaring, ed, DIGEST OF THE EARLY CONNECTICUT PROBATE RECORDS, 3 vols. (Hartford, 1904-1906), 1:137-38 (FHL #974.6 P2m). Editha was previously the wife of Robert Day of Hartford, as shown by his will, 20 May 1648, no probate act, Hartford District Probate (Ibid, 1:6). Hence, Mary is the dau of Robert and Editha Day. Date and place of birth are approximations based on family chronology and known residence of parents in Hartford.
MAR #1: Springfield Vital Records, 1:14 (FHL #185414). Samuel Ely died at Springfield, 17 Mar 1691 (Ibid, 1:54).
