- BIRTH: No birth rec found. Joseph is identified in the estate distribution of his father, Thomas Bird of Hartford, 3 Mar 1663/4, Hartford District Probate, abstracted in Charles W. Manwaring, ed, DIGESTOF THE EARLY CONNECTICUT PROBATE RECORDS, 3 vols. (Hartford, 1904-1906), 1:97 (FHL #974.6 P2m). Date and place of birth are approximations.
MAR: No mar rec found. On 1 Dec 1659 Anthony Howkins was granted adm of estate of Joseph Clarke of Windsor on behalf of Mary Clarke, age 21, sister of the deceased Joseph Clarke. Joseph Bird approved the account of Anthony Howkins respecting Mary Clarke's estate, 7 Mar 1660/1, suggesting he now had an interest in Mary's inheritance. See abstract from Hartford District Probate in Manwaring, DIGEST, 1:108. It is believed that Joseph Bird married Mary Clarke.
