- BIRTH: No birth rec found. Mary is identified in the articles of agreement of the heirs of her father, Thomas Meakins of Hatfield, 2 Mar 1688/9 (Hampshire Co. Probate 2:49 [FHL #879184]). Date of birth is an approximation. Some have supposed that it was Mary, not Sarah, who was born at Braintree on 24 Apr 1641. See Winifred L. Holman, "The Meakins Lineage" (typescript, 1958-60; NEHGS, Boston), 16. However, there is no evidence to suggest such a clerical error. It is equally possible that Mary was born between siblings Thomas and Hannah.

MAR #2: Northampton Vital Records, 1:97 (FHL #186161). Wife is called widow.
DEATH: No death rec found. Mary probably died shortly before 11 Apr 1705, the date of agreement of the legatees to the joint estate of Mary Allis and that of her late husband John Allis, who died in Jan 1690 (Hampshire Co. Probate, 3:132 [FHL #879184]).
NOTE: It is often published that Mary married Samuel Belding as her 3rd husband. See, for instance, Horatio D. Allis, GENEALOGY OF WILLIAM ALLIS (Hartford, 1919), 6, 7 (FHL #874219). This seems unlikely because she was called Mary "Allis" in the agreement of heirs in 1705, above. No evidence of a 3rd mar has been found.
