- BIRTH: No birth/chr rec found. Richard is identified in the will of his father, William Marche of Sherford, 29 Apr 1612, proved 8 Sep 1615, Archdeaconry Court of Totnes, published verbatim in George S. Terry,"Genealogical Research in England," NEHGR, 86 (1932):77-78 (FHL #974B2ne). Wills of this court were destroyed in 1942. Date and place of birth are approximations based on family history and chronology.
MAR: No mar rec found. Seven children are listed in the will of widow, Johane Marche of Sherford, 21 May 1616, proved 21 June 1616, Archdeaconry Court of Totnes (Terry, "Genealogical Research," 78). The will of William Marche, above, mentions the 7 children of his deceased son Richard and makes his dau-in-law Joane residuary legatee. That she is a Martyn is suggested by the will of her dau Elizabeth March, spinster, of Rattery, Devon, n.d., proved 14 May 1619, Archdeaconry Court of Totnes, which mentions her uncle Henry Martyn and aunt Alice Martyn (Terry, "Genealogical Research," 79).
DEATH: No death/bur rec found. Richard was deceased prior to the date of his father's will, 29 Apr 1612, above.
