- BIRTH: No birth/chr rec found. He is perhaps the John Lumace chr at Thaxted, Essex, 29 Jan 1562 (no parents listed), who is perhaps the son of John Lummys of Thaxted, whose will, proved 12 May 1567, mentions his children without naming them. This is the conclusion published in Elias Loomis, DESCENDANTS OF JOSEPH LOOMIS IN AMERICA, rev by Elisha S. Loomis (New Haven, CT, 1875; rev edition Fresno, CA, 1981), 86 (FHL #929.273 L873Le). Although possible, there is not adequate evidence to support this conclusion. Date and place of birth are approximations.
MAR: No mar rec found. The will of John Lyngwood of Braintree, 6 Apr 1597, proved 3 May 1597, mentions "my son-in-law" John Lomes and his children Mary and Joseph (Commissary Court of the Bishop of London [Essex & Herts Div], orig wills, 24:2 [FHL #094375]). John's will, below, calls his wife Agnes. Hence, it is believed that John Loomis married Agnes, dau of John Lyngwood.
DEATH: No death/bur rec found (Braintree recs are lost before 1660). See the will of John Loomis of Braintree, 14 Apr 1619, proved 21 Jun 1619, Commissary Court of the Bishop of London (Essex & Herts Div), orig wills, 24:198 (FHL #094375). Also See F. G. Emmison, EARLY ESSEX TOWN MEETINGS(London, 1970), 1, which shows John Loomys, one of the parish vestrymen, was dead by 3 May 1619 (FHL #942.67 K2e).
