- BIRTH: Thomas is identified in the will of his mother, Alice Purcas of Great Yeldham, "widow of Thomas Purcas," 13 Nov 1575, proved 15 May 1578, Commissary Court of the Bishop of London (Essex & Herts Div), orig wills, box 29, #29 (FHL #094384). Date and place of birth are approximations.
MAR #1: No mar rec found. "Elizabeth Purcas, wife of Thomas," bur 26 May 1569, "Great Yeldham Parish Register" (transcript, n.d.), unpaginated (FHL #571178 item 5). The will of Thomas Purcas, below, distributes to five of his six children 9 seams of malt, "which was their grandfather Bigge's gift." It is unlikely that his 2nd wife gave birth to five of his children between 1569 and 1574; hence Thomas's 1st wife must have been a Bigge.
MAR #2: Stisted par reg (FHL #1472761 item 16). Wife is called Margarett,"widow of John Draper of Stysted, the barber."
