The court roll identifies John as the son and heir of Robert Baldwin. John is called "brother" in the will of Richard Baldwin, of Aston Clinton, 16 Jan 1552/3, proved 21 Feb 1552/3, Archdeaconry Court of Buckingham, reg wills, 9:156 (FHL #088495). Date of birth is calculated from age 59 given on interrogatories concerning the chapel of St. Leonards in Aston Clinton (BUCKS ARCHEOLOGICAL SOCIETY, 121/17, cited in A. Vere Woodman, "The Baldwins of Dundridge and Chesham in Co. Bucks.," NEHGR, 113[1959]:247 [FHL #974 B2ne]).
