- CHR: Robert Dickinson, ed, THE REGISTER OF WINWICK PARISH CHURCH, Lancashire Parish Register Society, 113(1974):21 (FHL #942.72 K29pr). Entry gives a date of "28" Dec 1629 with notation that BTs give date of "26" Dec 1629. Original Winwick par reg confirms that "Jhn" Atherton was baptized on 26 Dec 1629 (FHL #1655875 item 3). He is called "Jonathan" on all later recs. The Winwick par reg is heavily abbreviated.
MAR: A REGISTER OF ALL THE CHRISTENINGES BURIALLES & WEDDINGES WITHIN THE PARISH OF ST. PEETERS UPON CORNHILL [LONDON], Publications of the Harleian Society, Parish Register Series, vol. 1 (London, 1877), 263 (FHL #942 B4ha). It is believed that this is the mar of Jonathan, son of Humphrey Atherton, because the will of his mother suggests that he was not in New England as late as 1672, and Jonathan was a mariner, which is the occupation of the Jonathan married at St. Peter's, Cornhill. No rec of his wife's name has been found in New England records.
DEATH: No death rec found. Jonathan apparently came to Boston where he is seen on deeds as early as 1673. He is last of record on 1 May 1677, when he sold land to his brother Increase Atherton (Suffolk Co. Deeds, 13:107 [FHL #493936]).
