MAR #1: No mar rec found. Letters and testimony in his divorce file, below, shows that he left a wife Rebecca in New London, Connecticut and went to Roanoke, Virginia (now in Dare Co., North Carolina).
DIV: Connecticut Archives, "Crimes & Misdemeanors," 1st series, 3:194-210 (Personal visit to Connecticut State Library, Hartford, 20 Jun 1995). Samuel was in Virginia by 18 Mar 1663/4. On 28 Mar 1664 Rebecca, "wife of Lt. Samuel Smith," sold 150 acres in New London to Robert Loveland. Samuel was granted land in New London on 29 Aug 1652 (New London Deeds, 1B:105-6, 2:32, 3:123-24 [FHL #005083]).
MAR #2: Testimony of witnesses in divorce suit, above, show that Samuel had another wife in Virginia, but her name is not stated.
DEATH: No death rec found. Samuel is mentioned in the will of his father, 23 Jun 1680.
