- BIRTH: No birth/chr rec found. Rebecca received a land grant in Windsor in her father's right along with other children of Thomas Newberry, 10 Oct 1640. The heirs of Thomas Newberry sold part of this land to Joseph Newberry, Jan 1641 (Windsor Deeds, 1:7, 8 (FHL #006188). Date of birth is calculated from age 57 on gravestone inscription, below. Place of birth is suggested by the residence of the family in Marshwood. See J. Gardner Bartlett, NEWBERRY GENEALOGY (Boston, 1914), 35-36 (FHL #000018).
MAR: No mar rec found. On 13 Aug 1689 John Russell, pastor of the church at Hadley, confirmed a gift of land to Josiah Clark, which land had originally been given by "my late wife Rebecca" to her "beloved sister Mrs. Mary Clarke, wife of Capt. Daniell Clarke of Windsor" (Windsor Deeds, 2:268 [FHL #006189]). This document clearly identifies Rebecca, wife of John Russell, as a dau of Thomas Newberry. Mary, wife of Capt. Daniel Clark, is a proved dau of Thomas Newberry.
