- BIRTH: Samuel West, "Memmorandum Book," entry for 23 Aug 1802, published verbatim in MAYFLOWER DESCENDANT, 26(1924):10 (FHL #974.4 D25md). Samuel copied the family history of an uncle living in Petersburgh, NY on this date. Date of birth is calculated from age 88 on gravestone inscription, below. Place of birth is an approximation.
MAR #1: North Kingstown Vital Records, 1:29. Much of this rec was destoyed by fire: "[ ]es" Card married Martha Wast, "4 Mar [burned]. "Groom is read as James Card, and year of mar as 1702/3 in James N. Arnold, VITAL RECORDS OF RHODE ISLAND, 1636-1850, 1st series, 21 vols. (Providence, 1891-1912), vol. 5, pt. 1, North Kingstown Marriages, 12 (FHL #974.5 V2a). The adm of estate of James Card of North Kingstown, [burned] Mar 1704/5 shows that his widow was Martha.
