MAR: VITAL RECORDS OF CHILMARK (Boston, 1904; repr with addenda by Catherine Merwin Mayhew, Bowie, MD, 1991), 123 (FHL #974.494/C1 V2v). This mar was found in the addenda to the 1991 edition and came from notes made by William J. Rotch in the Dukes County Historical Society. Rotch wrote that he found the information in old documents but does not specify which document for this mar. However, Chilmark town vital recs show that Elishib and Reliance Adams had a son Mayhew born on 22 Dec 1729 (VITAL RECORDS OF CHILMARK, 9).
DEATH: No death rec found. Eliashib was said to be living in Chilmark as late as 1768, according to Charles E. Banks, HISTORY OF MARTHA'S VINEYARD, 3 vols. (Boston 1911-25; repr Edgartown, MA, 1966), 3:1 (FHL #974.494 H2b).
NOTE: Eliashib is called "Elisha" on birth rec, "Eliashim" on chr rec, and "Eliashib" on mar rec.
