- BIRTH: No birth/chr rec found. John is identified in the will of his father, Rev. Thomas Walley of Barnstable, 10 Dec 1677, proved 5 Mar 1677/8, Plymouth Colony Probate, 3:2:115 (FHL #567794). Date of birth is calculated from age 69 on death rec, below.
MAR: No mar rec found. Children of John Walley and his wife Sarah were born at Bristol, Rhode Island, 1685-91 ("Transcript of the Records of Marriages, Births, and Deaths in the Town of Bristol" [unpublished ms, n.d.; Town Hall, Bristol, RI], 1:337, 338 [FHL #912787 item 2]). It is possible that John had two wives named Sarah. Bristol vital recs mention the death of Mrs. Sarah Walley on 2 Mar 1692. However, the death of Sarah, wife of John Walley, 11 Nov 1711, is recorded in the Boston Death Register, 6:72 (FHL #593709). It is also possible that Mrs. Sarah Walley who died at Bristol was the widow of Rev. Thomas Walley, John's father.
