- BIRTH: "Barnstable, Mass. Vital Records," MAYFLOWER DESCENDANT, 11(1909):131 (FHL #974.4 D25md). The vital records gives John a birth year of 1696. This record was written years after John's birth when all the children in the family were recorded at one time. The chr rec, below, shows that John was bapt on 6 May 1694. He was most likely born on 8 Apr 1694, a month before the bapt. His death rec in Gorham, Maine vital recs also suggests the earlier year, as John's age was given as 86 when he died on 29 Dec 1780 (see death rec below).
