- BIRTH: From the writings of Sir Symonds D'Ewes, great-grandson of Thomas Symonds (1602-1650), Harleian ms, #381, British Museum, cited in G. Andrews Moriarty, "Genealogical Research in England - Symonds-Femel," NEHGR, 80(1926):365 (FHL #974 B2ne). Date and place of birth are approximations based partly on the fact that Mary was already married on date of her father's will.
MAR: D'Ewes Papers, cited in Moriarty "Genealogical Research," NEHGR, 80:365. Also note that William Leonard is called "son-in-law" in the will of Mary's father, Thomas Symonds of Taunton, 13 Oct 1572, proved 10 Jan 1572/3, P.C.C., 1 Peter (FHL #091951). The will, however, does not mention his dau Mary.
DEATH: No death/bur rec found. Mary was mentioned in the will of her brother, Richard Symonds of Coxden, Dorset, 14 Jan 1608/9, proved 26 Oct 1611, P.C.C., 79 Wood (FHL #092047).
