- BIRTH: William Symonds identified Richard Femell, "a Norman," as his mother's father in correspondence with his grandnephew, Sir Symond D'Ewes (1602-1650), Harleian ms, #381, fo. 147, British Museum, cited in G. Andrews Moriarty, "Genealogical Research in England - Symonds-Femell," NEHGR, 80(1926):351 (FHL #974 B2ne). Richard's widow, Johan, is called a Frenchman's wife in depositions taken at Taunton, 14 Nov 1566, Star Charmber Proceedings, Eliz., C, 5/34, cited in Moriarty, "Genealogical Research," NEHGR, 80:363. Date of birth is an approximation.
MAR: Agnes, the mother of William Symonds and a proved daughter of Richard Femell is identified as a daughter in the will of widow Johan Femell of St. Mary Magdalene, Taunton, 29 Jun 1576, proved 4 Feb 1577/8, P.C.C., 8 Langley (FHL #091957). Her name was Johan "Crow" according to the papers of Sir Symond D'Ewes (1602-1650), Harleian ms, #381, British Museum (Moriarty, "Genealogical Research," NEHGR, 80:368).
DEATH: No death/bur rec found. Richard was dead before the date of his wife's will, above.
