MAR: No mar rec found in original source records. A wife Naomi is mentioned on estate recs, below. That she is a dau of Robert Burdick of Westerly, RI is shown by the agreement of Burdick's heirs, 25 Oct 1692, Westerly Land Evidences, 1:135 (FHL #940222). Jonathan Rogers and Naomi Burdick were married on 2 Mar 1678, according to James Swift Rogers, JAMES ROGERS OF NEW LONDON (Boston, 1902), 46 (FHL #1035542 item 6).
DEATH: No death rec found. See the adm of estate of Jonathan Rogers of New London, 4 Jan 1709/10, inv 6 Nov 1697, New London District Probate Files, #4553 (FHL #1025044). There is a tradition that Jonathan was drowned near Gull Island: "He had shot a seal and went for it on a log. He attached one end of a rope to the seal and the other end to his own body, in order to have free use of his hands. The seal revived in the struggle, and Mr. Rogers was drawn under the water and held there" (Rogers, JAMES ROGERS OF NEW LONDON, 46).
