- MAR #1: No mar rec found. When Elizabeth married Thomas Lowthroppe in 1558 (see below), she was called "Elizabeth Clarke." It is clear, however, that this was the surname of a previous husband, as the will of her mother-in-law, Ellen Lowthroppe of Cherry Burton, 7 Feb 1572/3, proved 26 Feb 1572/3, gives to Alice Clark, dau of Elizabeth, the wife of her son Thomas Lowthroppe (P.C.Y., reg wills, 19:280 [FHL #099475]).
