- BIRTH: There is no direct proof that Mary, wife of Abraham Perkins, is the dau of Humphrey and Susan Wythe. However, Humphrey Wythe's son Benjamin was apprenticed to Abraham Perkins for seven years, 29 Sep 1639 (THE PROBATE RECORDS OF ESSEX COUNTY, 3 vols. [Salem, MA 1916-20], 1:11[FHL #974.45 P2p]). Furthermore, Mary Perkins seemed to have an interest in the affairs of Humphrey Wythe's dau Emme, when she complained in Salem Quarterly Court, Dec 1649, that Emme's stepfather, Samuel Greenfield, altered a bill due to Emme by substituting his own name (RECORDS AND FILES OF THE QUARTERLY COURTS OF ESSEX COUNTY, 9 vols. [Salem, MA 1911-75], 1:182 [FHL #974.45 P2e]). Thomas Jones, husband of Humphrey Wythe's dau Abigail, was bondsman for Luke Perkins, son of Abraham and Mary. Finally, Abraham and Mary Perkins named two sons Humphrey (Sybil Noyes, Charles Thornton Libby, and Walter Goodwin Davis, GENEALOGICAL DICTIONARY OF MAINE AND NEW HAMPSHIRE [Portland, ME, 1928-39; repr Baltimore, 1979], 388, 541 [FHL #974 D2n]). Date of birth is calculated from age "about 88 years" on death rec, below.
