- BIRTH: No birth rec found. Caleb is called "brother" in the nuncupative will of Samuel Benjamin of Hartford, 18 Sep 1669, proved 9 Nov 1670, Hartford District Probate, abstracted in Charles W. Manwaring, ed, DIGEST OF THE EARLY CONNECTICUT PROBATE RECORDS, 3 vols. (Hartford, 1904-1906), 1:182 (FHL #974.6 P2m). Samuel Benjamin is a proved son of John and Abigail Benjamin. Date and place of Caleb's birth are approximations. John Benjamin, Caleb's father, was in Watertown by 28 Feb 1643/4 when he sold land to Barnaby Wind [Wines] (SUFFOLK DEEDS, 14 vols. [Boston, 1880-1906], 1:51 [FHL #974.46 R2s]).
MAR: No mar rec found. Widow Mary Benjamin administered the estate of Caleb Benjamin of Wethersfield, Conn., below. The inventory lists seven children including a dau Abigail. This dau is called "grandchild" in the will of Samuel Haile of Glastonbury, Conn., 26 Dec 1692, proved 6 Dec 1693, abstracted in Manwaring, DIGEST, 1:456. Samuel Haile also took the inv of Caleb's estate. Hence, it is believed that Caleb Benjamin married Mary, dau of Samuel Haile. The mar date is estimated from the age of Caleb's children listed in his estate recs.
